Alison Krauss & Union station - LIVE CD

Review of the first ever Live album by Alison Krauss & Union Station, written by West Australia's Troy Cook

Live CD is awesome

The latest compilation by Alison Krauss and Union Station is their 2-CD, 25 song set entitled “LIVE”, which was recorded in Louisville, Kentucky in late 2002. I recently stumbled across this CD and felt utterly compelled to voice my opinion of this otherwise awesome effort. Apart from the standalone talent of the band, which comprises Dan Tyminski (guitar and vocals), Ron Block (banjo, vocals), Jerry Douglas (Dobro), Barry Bales (Bass and vocals) and of course Alison Krauss, the sound quality of the recording is like nothing I have ever heard (especially for a live CD). The sound was so clear in fact it felt like I was there in the crowd – especially so during those whimsical banters exchanged between the audience and band members - it was simply amazing!

This CD clearly is a testament to bluegrass’s most celebrated crossover band at the pinnacle of their game exhibiting some of the best picking and heartfelt harmonies I have heard in years. This is a absolute MUST!!
