You can add your own events to our calendar.  Gigs, concerts, festivals, jam sessions, club and society meetings - all are ok as long as they are bluegrass related. 

Just log in and on your Registered User Home Page, you can enter as many events events as you like, as far into the future as you like, and edit existing listings whenever you want.  All bluegrass related listings are free.

It's back! The Calendar is back

It's back!  A while back, the calendar was one of the most popular parts of the site,  and when the site was rebiult it got pushed to the back of the queue.  Now it's back and anyone can add their own events to the calendar.

That means any of the following can be added:

  • Band gigs (including repeating gigs - you can add a weekly gig for as many weeks as you want)
  • Jam sessions - regular or otherwise.  One-off or every week/month
  • Society meetings
  • Festivals
  • Conventions
  • whatever you like.

Soon, we'll be putting back the radio show listings too, and they'll also appear on the calendar page too.

All we require is that the event be bluegrass-related or old-time country related and in Australia.   We will be keeping it tightly focussed because that way it's more relevant to the readers of the site.

How to add an event (or series of events) to the calendar:

  1. First you must be a registered user of the site.     Registration is free, but that way we can make sure we know who is posting what to the site.
  2. Then log in, go to the registered users area and add the details of your event using the wizard.
  3. You can add your event and then change the dates, so you can re-use the same event description for repeating events.   You can even set up a band gig, say, then when it comes to the dates for the gig, you can have it work out the dates for every second Thursday of the month until July 2009 and the system will work it all out for you and add the dates to the calendar automatically.
  4. You can change or delete any date later if your circumstances change.
  5. Your event will initially need to be approved by our webmaster to check that the event is consistent with the objectives of the web site.

If you're not already a registered user of the site,  do so now, and you can start getting the benefits of having your concert/gig/jam session/bluegrass picnic seen by  the readers of Australia's most-read bluegrass site!

What is still to be developed?

There is still quite a lot of development to be done here.    Here's a partial list of some of the things that will appear here as time allows:

  • A weekly view - just see the events for a specific week, in more detail
  • A state view - see only the events in a specific state
  • Event detail view - a popup window with all the details of the event
  • Images - we'll be adding a function so bands can upload a picture to be added to th e listing
  • Radio show listings - to be added to the calendar, plus radio listings on their own page
